Surrounding Area

Morden Hall is situated between the villages of Guilden Morden and Steeple Morden on the Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire borders, amidst gently rolling countryside and makes an ideal base from which to visit the unspoilt historic towns and villages of East Anglia.

Amenities in local villages include a post office in Steeple Morden and public houses, whilst more comprehensive shopping and recreational facilities are to be found in Royston and Baldock, both of which are about 8 miles. The village of Ashwell, with its traditional English inns and timber framed houses, is a delightful place to visit and is a pleasant three mile walk across the countryside. Cambridge is about 14 miles to the north-east, and Biggleswade is 10 miles to the west.

Close to Morden Hall you will find an abundance of places to visit: the University city of Cambridge offers great historical and architectural interest; the Abbey, Verulamium and Gardens of the Rose at St. Albans; the Imperial War Museum at Duxford (home to Europe's top aviation collection).

Further afield there is Sandringham (Norfolk) the country home of Queen Elizabeth II; Ely with its beautiful cathedral and home of Oliver Cromwell; and "Constable country" where many of the landscapes remain unchanged since being painted by this famous artist. Journey to the beautiful Heritage Coast of Norfolk and explore the Fenlands of Cambridgeshire from Ely to the nature reserves of The Wash.
