Morden Hall Alpacas - Established 1997

About Morden Hall Alpacas

quoteA young alpaca at Morden Hall Morden Hall Alpacas was established in 1997 when Janet and I purchased our first alpacas. Since then we have learnt a great deal about keeping alpacas, breeding alpacas and caring for these wonderful creatures. And we have gained great pleasure from working with them.

We currently have a herd of approximately 120 alpacas. Most are home-bred - although we still retain a number of our earlier imports from Chile, Peru, Australia and North America.

Some years ago, we selected and imported alpacas from overseas to widen our gene pool and to improve the overall quality of our herd. Importation can be a risky and expensive venture. Fortunately, there now many excellent British-bred alpacas available. We believe the quality of many of the alpacas that we now have available for sale at Morden Hall match or exceed the quality of most imports, eliminate the risks and are generally less expensive.

Our home-bred alpacas have already had considerable success in the show rings. One of our stud males, Shehan, is the proud sire of both the BAS National Intermediate Female Champion for 2007 and the East of England Supreme Champion for 2008.

We are proud of our alpaca breeding programme and welcome enquiries from both new and experienced breeders. Please contact Janet or me for further information or to arrange a visit to our farm.

In the meantime we hope you enjoy your visit to our website.

Breed Societies

We are members of the British Alpaca Society(BAS). We are delighted that our industry now has one national registry. All our animals are registered with the BAS and we encourage new owners to ensure that they only purchase properly registered animals. In this way we believe we can best protect the welfare of the alpacas in the UK and minimise the risks of theft.
